I have sent Jerry information about my brother LBS, including email addresses of his surviving shipmates. These shipmates have supplemented the things I was able to tell Jerry and also sent him photographs.

My name is Jerry Sandlin. Robert A. Faller from St. Louis was my grandfather. He recently passed away and was honored with a military funeral. I am in the process of collecting memorabelia related to his time in the service. I was wondering if you had any additional stories involving Robert A. Faller, or any photographs of him or LCS-11 that you would be willing to sell. Please feel free to contact me my email at jerry.sandlin@gmail.com. Thank you so much for your time and your story and your service. Additionally, I would like you to know that in my grandfather's last weeks, I shared your story with him. He remembered everything, and retelling the events brought him great joy. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Jerry Sandlin, USN

April,
The exo-skeleton has a weak, breaking line running from front to back.
When the adult is ready to emerge (shortly after coming out of the
ground) it applies pressure from inside which causes the exo-skeleton
to break along the line. You will notice that all exo skeletons hanging empty after the adult has emerged are ruptured along the line (see the photo of the exo-skeleton).
I am not sure what the colors of body parts are at the time of emerging.
Best wishes.

Hello, I am wondering if you could please give me some info on how the locust sheds it's exo skeleton. I am not very well informed on this subject and currently I have a locust coming out of it's shell in my back yard which looks very interesting. It looks to be a light grey colour with blue on it's side, maybe wings.
Thank you very much.
Kind Regards,
April.

Interesting photos... I am the cultural/historic resource manager at FLEACT Sasebo and am always interested in seeing new photos of the Sasebo area. Do you have any other pictures from the occupation period?

I well remember the wall of planks basefield in Enochville.....
Seeing Slim Smith play always stuck in my mind, then soon
as the game was over I can still see Slim trotting over the hill
in his baseball uniform to get to his store...Lots of folks stopped
in after the game for a soft drink(dope) and maybe a moon-
pie to go with it ! .......Ray
